Areas of Readiness

True school readiness goes far beyond knowing letters and numbers. It begins with strong physical foundations—like core strength, fine motor skills, and spatial awareness—that help children engage fully in the classroom. It’s shaped by cognitive growth: the executive functioning and self-regulation skills that allow children to focus, plan, and persist through challenges. It’s rooted in social-emotional development, as children learn to understand themselves, connect with others, and navigate their world with confidence and resilience. And at the heart of it all are the caregivers—whose daily choices, emotional presence, and partnership with educators help children feel secure, supported, and ready to thrive. When we nurture all four of these areas, we give children the best possible foundation for joyful, meaningful learning.
